Presentation
Freespa: Each film-coated tablet contains Tiemonium Methylsulphate INN 50 mg.
Description
Tiemonium is a quaternary ammonium antimuscarinic agent with a peripheral effect similar to those of atropine. Tiemonium strengthens calcium bonding with phospholipids and proteins thus stabilizing the cell membrane of the GI tract.
Indication
Freespa 50 (Tiemonium Methylsulphate) is an antispasmodic drug. It reduces muscle spasms of the intestine, biliary system, uterus & urinary bladder. It is indicated for the pain in gastrointestinal, biliary urinary and gynecological disease such as gastroenteritis, diarrhea, dysentery, biliary colic, enterocolitis, cholecystytis, colonopathyes, mild cystitis, & spasmodic dysmenorrhoea.
Dose and Administration
Recommended oral dose of Freespa 50 mg tablet is 2-6 tablets (100-300 mg) daily in divided dosage as required.
Side Effects
a)Common: Tiemonium Methylsulphate may have some undesirable effects in certain individuals like risk of hypotension and tachycardia if ingested in high doses rapidly.
b)Rare: The less common side effects are dry mouth with difficulty in swallowing and thirst, dry skin, palpitations and arrhythmias, difficulty in micturition and constipation may occur.
Warning & Precaution
Precautions should be exercised for treatment of patients with disorder of the prostate, serious disease of the kidney and liver, cardiac disorders, thyroid disorders, chronic bronchitis and certain gastrointestinal diseases.
Contraindication
Tiemonium Methylsulphate is contraindicated in patient with known hypersensitivity to Tiemonium Methylsulphate or to any component in the product. Tiemonium Methylsulphate tablet should not be used in Glucoma or where acute pain of eyeball with vision disturbance was found. Also this drug should not be used in patients with the disorder of prostate or urinary bladder.
Use In Pregnancy And Lactation
Tiemonium Methylsulphate tablet may be used in pregnancy only if it is clearly needed by the assessment of risk benefit ratio. It may be used in lactating mother only if it is clearly needed by the assessment of risk benefit ratio. Use in children & adolescents: Tiemonium Methylsulphate tablet do not use for children.
Packaging
Each box contains 5 x 10’s tablets in Alu-PVC blister pack.
Drug Interaction
a) With medicine: The effect of Tiemonium Methylsulphate may be enhanced by concomitant administration of other drugs with antimuscarinic properties such as Amantadine, Antihistamines, Tricyclic Antidepressants, Phenothiazine and Butyrophenones.
b) With Food and others: Tiemonium Methylsulphate should not take with alcohol, because it intensifies drowsiness.
Overdose
Occasional retention of urine may occur in case of overdoses.
